Ordinary Time
Gillespie Dinner Ministry
Our church has always taken an important role in this ministry. Cook a meal with friends or family and then share it with those in need at our local shelter. Maggie Feczko (203-454-4694) and Wynne Abrams (203-227-9210) will be happy to pair you with an experienced person if you’d like to learn the ropes.
The Women’s Spirituality Group
This intergenerational group invites women of the parish to explore and share their spiritual journeys. We begin with centering prayer followed by discussion and a potluck supper. This regular Wednesday evening meeting adjourns for the summer on May 5th. Call the church office at 203-227-0827 or contact Joyce Mueller at dearjoycemueller@yahoo.com.
Men’s Discussion Group
Men’s Discussion Group: Will resume in September and meet at 8:00 a.m. on Sundays resuming in September. Each week, the group listens to lectures that approach a topic from a variety of perspectives – historical, philosophical and spiritual among others. Members are encouraged to comment and provocative discussion generally follows. Contact Christiaan at 646-331-3926 or christiaanrizy@yahoo.com.
Kerygma
Kerygma (meaning proclamation) Bible Study meets Fridays in the Vestry Room, 9:30-11:00 a.m. resuming in September. This is for all wanting to learn and grow in the life of the Spirit. No previous Bible study is required.
Mothers and Others

Parents of Young Children
All parents, grandparents and nannies with children from birth through age four are welcome to this coffee hour/playgroup, 9:30-11:00 a.m., Tuesdays during the school year. We are still looking for someone to take over leadership next year. If you are interested, contact Lavinia Southam, 203-571-8883, lavinia_gammon@hotmail.com .
Youth Confirmation
The Confirmation program will be modeled on the Confirm not Conform (CnC) curriculum. This is a one-year program, beginning in late September, with Confirmation in May. It consists of a mid-week one hour and 15 minute long class every other week (a total of 14 class meetings). Also incorporated into the program this year are a number of opportunities for “faith in action” and special events. CnC is a dynamic program that meets young people where they are and empowers them to claim their belief and act upon it to change their world. We hope all rising 8th graders will choose to join us on this journey of faith and exploration.
CHT Choirs
Did you know that choir can be a life-changing/ enriching experience? Research has shown that reading ability, speech fluency in languages, team working, social skills, memorizing capacity, time management skills and learning ability all improve due to being a member of a choir. Food for thought…join choir this fall!
Did you know that 32 million adults and over 10 million children participate in over 270,000 choral groups across the United States? Choir is a great way to achieve release from the tensions of everyday life and to celebrate special events. Food for thought… join choir this fall!
Register online in the Choirs section! For more information, contact Michael Burnette at 203-227-0827 x107 or mburnette@chtwestport.org or Robert Kwan at 203-227-0827 x113 or rkwan@chtwestport.org.
Worship Committee
This committee meets periodically, and all parishioners are invited to attend. If you would like to know more, speak to the Rector, John Branson.
Faith in Action is calling all cooks!
In our mission of Sheltering Body and Soul, we are seeking recipes that could be served at the Gillespie Center. We are compiling a special cookbook of healthy meals that contain protein, vegetables, and good carbohydrates that can be made in bulk, to feed 35-40 men, women and children. Please send by email to Maggie (mfeczko@optonline.net) or place in the designated box in the Parish Hall.
Common Threads
Prayer shawls created by this parish group are usually blessed upon completion at the Wednesday noon healing services. To date, over 140 shawls have been given away to provide parishioners comfort during times of need.
Youth Lay Readers
Looking for young people to be lay readers occasionally at Sunday worship. If your child is interested, call Marilyn at the church office, 203-227-0827
Gillespie Center Cooks
CHT prepares a meal and serves about 30 people at the Gillespie Center on the first Tuesday, fourth Sunday and fifth Sunday of each month. You would bring a prepared meal by 4:45 p.m. and be done by 6:00 p.m. The Gillespie Center kitchen serves shelter residents, other homeless people and community families and individuals in need of food. This is a great way for CHT individuals and families to do something meaningful and Gospel inspired. Contact Wynne Abrams at 203-227-9210 or Maggie Feczko at 203-454-4694.
Hospitality at CHT

You may have noticed that our hospitality tables filled with yummy cookies and refreshing drinks that used to be up against the wall are now in the center of the room. This was an idea suggested at a conference attended by folks from our New Member Ministry Team. The conference focused on how to create a more inviting church, and the conveners said that putting tables in the center of the room facilitates more conversation and more mixing and mingling. After worship, we hope you will come downstairs for food and fellowship, look for someone you don’t know and introduce yourself.
You will find our accessible entrance off of our upper parking lot, located on Myrtle Avenue, adjacent to our church offices.
Paging the Nursery...
When you leave your child in the nursery, you will be given a pager. The nursery staff can be in touch with you if needed and, as part of our safe church program, you must return the pager to receive your child.
